Dr. John Kokkinakis was born in Montreal . He attended Marianopolis College and then McGill University where he obtained a B.Sc. in Human Anatomy (1984) followed by his Doctorate in Dental Surgery (D.D.S) in 1986 where upon graduation he received the Dr. James Mc Cutcheon Medal for outstanding leadership, scholarship and professional achievement.
During his dental training at McGill University , Dr. Kokkinakis enlisted in the Canadian Armed Forces. Upon graduation from the dental program he was promoted to the rank of Captain and posted to Ottawa South as a Dental Officer where he served for 3 years. During his military career, he received training in forensic dentistry and was appointed Forensic Dental Officer for the Ottawa area.
In 1988, Dr. Kokkinakis began his private practice at Place D'Orleans Dental Office. He enjoys all fields of dentistry including endodontics (root canals), implant restorations, esthetic dentistry, crown and bridges, basic restorative, paedodontics (children) as well as orthodontic treatment (specifically Invisalign and functional orthopedic appliances). He is a member of the Ottawa Dental Society, the Ontario Dental Association, the Academy of General Dentistry and the International Association for Orthodontics.
Dr. Kokkinakis is married and has 3 wonderful children, a daughter and boy/girl twins. He enjoys his work, his family life and several sports such as swimming, scuba diving, cross-country and downhill skiing, skating, weight training, coaching soccer and golfing. Dr. Kokkinakis is fluent in English, French and Greek.
